Confirmed Slate

Truancy

A tragic love story about lost youth.

sixteen-year-old paperboy falls in love with his fifty year old dinner lady. After a disturbing accident involving his young friend they are forced to flee their Castleford council estate. Now on the run, they continue their affair in denial of what they have left behind. Their road trip continues to the Scottish Highlands where she has connections to her childhood, but along the way they encounter further violent complications and before long, the whole country is looking for them. They finally reach the remote sanctuary they have been searching for – only to be confronted with a difficult truth. Faced with their own mortality, they indulge in other means of escape, which lead to a place of no return…

#LondonBoys

An urban crime drama/ thriller about a boy from a poor background escapes his violent past when he goes to university, but returns home to the same troubles that he hoped he had left behind.

#LondonBoys is a realistic backdrop of London as it stands today. Not the uber-glossy West End but at the same time, not an ultra-depressing ‘kitchen sink drama’ either – just a snapshot of what life is like for young people growing up in a society where they are condemned by their surroundings and lack of opportunities.

The Madam

A true story about a Madam and female gangster who, at the height of her reign, owned multiple brothels in London and the Home Counties, gaining the respect and protection of the underworld.

Set in the 1990s amidst the heyday of raves and dance music, there’s a lot more to this story than just the sex business – it also shows the drug smuggling that went on between Jamaica and the UK throughout the 90’s and how this brave, tough businesswoman and mother managed to escape death on several occasions.
