A sixteen-year-old paperboy falls in love with his fifty year old dinner lady. After a disturbing accident involving his young friend they are forced to flee their Castleford council estate. Now on the run, they continue their affair in denial of what they have left behind. Their road trip continues to the Scottish Highlands where she has connections to her childhood, but along the way they encounter further violent complications and before long, the whole country is looking for them. They finally reach the remote sanctuary they have been searching for – only to be confronted with a difficult truth. Faced with their own mortality, they indulge in other means of escape, which lead to a place of no return…
